Our Favorite Easy Cocktails to Make at Home
An easy way to elevate any gathering is by adding at-home cocktails to the mix. I am by no means a mixologist, but over the years we’ve picked up some fun, easy cocktail recipes that we love making to perk up any weekend night.
Old Fashioned
An Old Fashioned is a go-to for most of the men in our family, especially when there’s something to celebrate. My favorite things about this drink are the simplicity of the recipe and the elegance that comes with the this classic cocktail. If you typically have quality whiskey around, this drink is a no-brainer.
1 tsp of sugar
2 dashes of bitters (orange or agostura)
2 parts whiskey
Orange zest
Premium cherry garnish
Pairs well with: kicking off an evening while dressed to the nines.
Aperol Spritz
I like to call this a signature summer drink of basic b*tches everywhere - myself included. I used to order these all the time and never realized how simple they were to make at home. I guarantee after you make them once, you’ll never, not have Aperol in your bar again.
4 oz Champagne/Prosecco
1 oz Aperol
Fill with Soda Water (I used grapefruit or orange-flavored LaCroix/Bubly)
Garnish with an orange or grapefruit slice
Pairs well with: hot summer days + a charcuterie board
Beergaritas
This recipe is a family favorite on Chris’ side! This was the first at-home drink recipe I ever tried and we’ve been hooked ever since. It tastes like everything you love about margaritas + beer + your magic at-home touch. Here’s what you’ll need:
12 oz Tequila
4 oz Triple Sec
12 oz Water
1 can Frozen Limeade
2 cans Light Beer (we use Bud or Miller Lite)
Yield - 1 pitcher or about 6 margaritas. If you want to go the extra mile, I love to garnish these with dehydrated limes!
Pairs well with: Boozy girl’s nights + a whole tub of Ridiculously Good Salsa.
Italian Greyhound
This sweet addition to our cocktail lineup is one of my new favorites. The presentation of the sugar rim is what sets this one over the edge for me.
2 oz Gin
4 oz Grapefruit Juice
1 oz Aperol
Sugar (for the rim)
My favorite thing about this drink is the garnish game! You can add a rosemary sprig for an extra touch!
Pairs well with: A Garden Party, *pinkies up!
Elderflower Gin + Tonic
I swear I didn’t discover liqueur until I was in my mid-twenties. Elderflower Liqueur (a common brand is St. Germain) is very effervescent so a little bit goes a long way. Chris and I are both Gin + Tonic lovers, so this is a twist on one of our classic favorites.
2 oz Gin (we use Seagrams or Tanqueray)
1 oz Elderflower Liqueur
Tonic Water (or Diet Tonic Water)
Lime wedge
Pairs well with: Just about anything
Raise a glass to yourself for being brave enough to try something new! Cheers!

Meg
